SCAP PUSH UPS - WHY - WHEN - HOW

SCAP PUSH UPS - WHY - WHEN - HOW

WHY- Scap = scapula aka your shoulder blade. Scap push ups strengthen the muscles around your shoulder blades AND help mobilize the joint. Overall, great for helping your shoulders function properly.

WHEN- Add a set or two of ten to twelve reps into your warm up routine - especially on upper body days.

HOW- Set yourself up in a normal push up position. Core is engaged and your hips are not sagging. Your arms will remain straight as your chest moves down and you pinch your shoulder blades together (retraction). Then you will do the opposite and push your shoulder blades apart back into the starting push up position (retraction). This is a slow controlled movement with just a small range of motion.

Give ‘em a whirl in your next warm up
