Common Abbreviations You Might Find In Your Lifting Program

It is very common to use abbreviations in lifting/fitness related programs. If you have ever worked with a coach or trainer or followed a program previously you may be familiar with a few or all of these, but if you are new to following a program this may help!


Let's take a look at a list of some of the common abbreviations you might see in a training program.


DB = Dumbbell

BB = Barbell

SA = Single Arm

SL = Single Leg

Dual DB = Dual Dumbbell - DB held in each hand

OH = Overhead

Tri = Triceps

Bis = Biceps

Fwd = Forward

Bwd = Backward

DL = Deadlift

RDL = Romanian Deadlift

BW = Body Weight

Neut = Neutral Grip (Palms in)

Sup = Supinated Grip (Palms UP)

Pro = Pronated Grip (Palms Down)
